Mata kuliah ini memberikan pemahaman mengenai konsep dasar Sistem Informasi, dibahas juga mengenai bagaimana membuat perencanaan dan pengembangan Sistem Informasi dengan metode Siklus Hidup Pengembangan Sistem. Juga dibahas bagaimana mengevaluasi Sistem Informasi, termasuk berbagai macam model cara melakukan evaluasi Sistem Informasi.

Setelah selesai mengikuti perkuliahan ini maka:
1. Mahasiswa memahami dan mempunyai wawasan tentang konsep Sistem Informasi secara umum. Dibahas juga mengenai jenis Sistem Informasi dengan pendekatan struktural maupun juga jenis Sistem Informasi dengan pendekatan fungsional.
2. Mahasiswa mamahami bagaimana merencanakan dan mengembangkan Sistem Informasi, baik dengan pendekatan Siklus Hidup Pengembangan Sistem maupun juga dengan metode Prototyping.
3. Mahasiswa memahami berbagai macam aplikasi Sistem Informasi dalam berbagai bidang.
4. Mahasiswa memahami berbagai macam metode untuk melakukan evaluasi Sistem Informasi.
